After the India-China border dispute, 59 Chinese apps were banned from the government. After this, once again the government has banned 47 Chinese mobile apps. These mobile apps were clones of previously banned Chinese apps. This time TikTok Lite and CamScanner Advance. Last Friday, the order was issued against this. The list of these 47 clones apps will be released soon by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
These apps include TikTok Lite, Helo Lite, SHAREit Lite, BIGO LIVE Lite, and VFY Lite (source TOI).
On the banning of these apps, governement has said that these apps were harmful to the integrity and the sovereignty of the people of the country and it is the nation’s duty to protect the privacy of our people.

What Chinese Spokesman said on the ban of these Chinese apps?
One the previoulsy 59 banned apps, the chinese foreign ministery said, “strongly concerned regarding the decision of the Indian government”.
Chinese Foreign Ministery Spokesman said, “China is strongly concerned, verifying the situation.” And further said, “We want to stress that the Chinese government always asks Chinese businesses to abide by international and local laws-regulations. The Indian government has a responsibility to uphold the legal rights of international investors including Chinese ones.”
China had threatened India for trade war and to do more economic damage than Doklam. According to the rules of China, if the Chinese government demands any information from a Chinese company, then it is mandatory to give people’s data to the Chinese government. This is why these apps were banned in India.

The Indian government has tightened the rules in view of Chinese investment. Now if Chinese companies want to participate in government projects, then it will be very difficult for them. On 29th June, the Government of India had banned Chinese apps in India due to the border dispute in LAC.
